Garter Me This by Dana Fehrenbach

Welcome to this year’s Baah Yarn Love Your Store 2024 Shawl. Garter Me This Shawl name is a play on Batman’s”s nemesis ‘The Riddler” and his famous taunt, “Riddle Me This’. Garter ridges with a simple KFB increase with the yarn held double throughout. The pattern is designed to use up every inch of 3 skeins of Baah La Jolla if you decide to include the fringe.

This pattern is so versatile and can be made from any weight. Knit it up and truly follow the pattern in fingering weight, or make it larger using bigger yarns! It’s totally up to you! You are the master of your own shawl. Picture shown is just one example of how the colors can be interchanged because you can use the colors in any combination to make something that is uniquely you.

Fingering Weight -OR- DK Weight

DESIGNER RECOMMENDED YARN: La Jolla by Baah Yarn (100% Superwash Merino Wool; 100g/400 yds): 3 Skeins, 1 skein in each color. Shown in the colors Love Your Store '24, Spring Has Sprung, and Navy. Fingering weight yarn hand dyed in Nevada in a large array of colors.

ALTERNATE YARN: Sock by Malabrigo (100% Superwash Merino Wool; 100g/440yds): 3 Skeins, 1 skein in each of 3 colors. Variegated kettle-dyed yarn from Uruguay with subtle to striking color shifts. Silky soft merino wool in easy care superwash, too!

ALTERNATE YARN: Sonoma by Baah Yarn (100% Superwash Merino Wool; 100g/234 yds): 3 Skeins, 1 of each color. True DK weight yarn for a thicker, plusher shawl in a plethora of hand dyed colorways.

ALTERNATE YARN: Arroyo by Malabrigo (100% Superwash Merino Wool; 100g/335 yds): 3 Skeins, 1 of each color. Light DK weight yarn is kettle-dyed in small batches. Available in a multitude of tones and variegations.

ALTERNATE YARN: Marla -AND- Sami by Manos del Uruguay (100% Superwash Merino Wool: 100g/273 yds): 3 Skeins, 1 of each color. Sami & Marla are supersoft Uruguayan Merino Wool with paired colorways. Marla is a long gradient duo-tone or marled yarn while Sami is a tonal solid.

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS: Wingspan 77" x 32" at center in Fingering Weight yarn

YARDAGE: 1,000 total yds (without Fringe) or 1,200 total Yds (with Fringe)
SKILL LEVEL: Advanced Beginner to Intermediate-Yarn Held Double (ie. 2 yarns knit at same time), garter stitch, KFB increases, fringe.

NEEDLES: Size US 8 / 5mm 32" circular needle, or size needed to obtain gauge
OTHER TOOLS: tapestry needle
GAUGE: 12 sts = 4" in Garter Ridge stitch
