The Ridge Rug is made of sturdy, hard-wearing wool yarn that is soft underfoot.  This is one of many great patterns in the book Knits at Home: Rustic Designs for the Modern Nest by Ruth Cross.  This rug is very simple to make and has subtle stripes in 2 different colors.  The ridges are created by gathering and catching every eight row and making a bump on the rug.  Feel free to vary the size of the rug to fit your space!

 Aran Weight

DESIGNER RECOMMENDED YARN: Wool Blend Aran by Patons UK (63% Wool / 37% Acrylic; 100g/202yds): 13 Skeins Main Color (MC) & 7 Skeins Contrasting Color (CC). hold all yarn double.  Shown in Dark Brown & Marled Brown

ALTERNATE YARN: Top of the Lamb by Brown Sheep Co. (100% USA Wool; 113g/190yds): 9 (14) Skeins MC & 5 (8) Skeins CC. Top of the Lamb is a true rug yarn made in the USA and was originally developed for use by the Navajo.  It has a very soft hand and is available in heathered or solid colors. PRE-ORDER now available in all colors. Please contact us prior to placing your order for color availability, and allow at least 5 business days for shipping to your location.  

ALTERNATE YARN: Cotton Fleece Worsted by Brown Sheep Co (80% Cotton / 20% Resilient Wool; 100g/215 yds):  8 (13) Skeins MC & 5 (7) Skeins CC.  This soft yet strong yarn is commonly used in weaving and will wear well as a rug due to its twist.  The wool content adds a bit of springiness that helps the rug keep its shape.
