In the midst of several demands, sometimes you need a little knitting break.  Therapy is aptly named with mindless garter stripes, simple eyelets & a picot edging.  It is almost mindless, easy to put down and pick up so you can squeeze it in among other things, and be appropriate for using a variegated yarn with a couple of supporting solids. All these things make this shawl great vacation knitting!

If you want a really mindless knit, this pattern includes a separate pdf with row-by-row instructions which includes stitch counts for every row. You can simply check off each row as you knit it. The row numbers are consistent between the two formats, so you can switch from one to the other at any point.

  Fingering Weight

DESIGNER RECOMMENDED YARN: Yummy 2-Ply by Miss Babs (100% Merino Wool; 113g/400yds): 1 Skein in each of 3 colors.

ALTERNATE YARN: Sock by Malabrigo (100% Superwash Merino Wool; 100g/440yds: MINI-25g/110 yds): 1 MINI Skein Color A, 1 100g Skein Color B, & 2 MINI Skeins Color C.  Use Azules, Frank Ochre & Pearl to closely match images.

ALTERNATE YARN: O-Wash Fingering by O-Wool (100% Washable Organic Merino Wool; 100g/428 yds; MINI-25g/100yds): 1 MINI Skein Color A, 1 100g Skein Color B, & 2 MINI Skeins Color C.  This environmentally friendly yarn is milled in the Northeastern USA using low impact dyes on organic merino wool.  This yarn is not variegated, but is a solid tonal in each color.

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS: 70" at widest point x 15" at longest point
YARDAGE: 540-645 yds as follows: Color A - 50-70 yds, Color B - 330-400 yds (this is the best spot for highly variegated yarn), & Color C - 160-175 yds.  The range represents the test knit plus a little cushion on the upper end.
SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate

NEEDLES: Size US 4 / 3.5mm 36" or longer circular needle, or size needed to obtain gauge
OTHER TOOLS: Stitch Markers, Tapestry Needle
GAUGE: 20 sts = 4" in blocked garter stitch
