This wonderful hat knits up quickly in bulky weight yarn for the intermediate knitter who is familiar with colorwork. Erica Schlueter has created a gem that is featured in Knitscene Magazine Winter 2017. This delightful hat features 2 bears and 2 snowflakes between the decreases on the top. This hat is worked in the round from the bottom up.
DESIGNER RECOMMENDED YARN: MountainTop Blackthorn by Classic Elite Yarns (50% Alpaca/50% Wool; 100g/120yds): 1 Skein Main Color (MC) & 1 Skein Contrasting Color (CC). Shown in Beaver Gray & Alabaster
ALTERNATE YARN: Lamb's Pride Bulky by Brown Sheep Co. (85% USA Wool / 15% USA Mohair; 113g/125yds): 1 Skein MC & 1 Skein CC. One skein of each color will make 2 complete hats, one in the reverse colors of the first hat. This is a wonderful yarn to knit bulky weight hats and has lovely stitch definition, warmth and a little sheen from the mohair. It is a pleasure to knit this single ply yarn with a tight twist.
ALTERNATE YARN: Baby Alpaca Chunky by Cascade Yarns (100% Baby Alpaca; 100g/108yds): 1 Skein MC & 1 Skein CC. One skein of each color will make 1 complete hat. This sumptuous yarn is warmer & softer than wool but does not have the elasticity of wool. Use Baby Alpaca Chunky if you want a luxury item fit for a queen or king. Please swatch, wash, and then measure to make sure that your gauge is accurate. Alpaca is known to grow with washing.
