Softyak DK transcends the seasons thanks to its blend of cotton, yak and nylon. The chainette construction makes it surprisingly light for a cotton rich double-knitting yarn and it's available in colors ranging from muted tones to rich jewel shades.
Softyak DK has a robust chainette construction, enhanced with a little nylon, that adds springiness and loft for a better knitting experience. It’s also very smooth to the touch, and works up into a fabric with incredible drape and an amazingly soft hand. The cotton and yak fibers take dye differently, resulting in a soft melange effect.
This yarn is perfect for those with fiber sensitivities as neither the cotton nor yak will irritate the skin. It’s also naturally anti-static and anti-microbial.

About Rowan - The name Rowan was inspired by the beautiful shrubs lining the banks of the river Holme in Yorkshire, an area deeply entwined in textile heritage and tradition. Established in 1978, we started life near Huddersfield but eventually moved to a traditional former textile mill nearby. The founders Stephen Sheard and Simon Cockin wanted to produce knitting yarns, which were both quality and perfect for the design trends of the time, showcasing an array of natural fibers in a paintbox color palette. They placed the utmost value on providing yarn shades which could be translated into timeless design, and these values are still at the core of Rowan today.
