Construction is a variation of the top-down, seamless, simultaneous set-in sleeve method described by Barbara Walker in Knitting From the Top.

Fingering (held double) and Light Worsted/Heavy DK weight yarns are recommended for Stonehaven. The grey sweater shown was knit with doubled fingering weight which turns out to be somewhere in the DK/worsted range.

DESIGNER RECOMMENDED YARN:  Cascade 220 by Cascade Yarns (100% Wool; 220yds): 5 (6, 6, 7, 7, 7) Skeins.  Shown in Cordovan.

ALTERNATE WORSTED YARN: Rios by Malabrigo (100% Superwash Merino Wool; 100g/210yds): 5 (6, 6, 7, 7, 8) Skeins.  Gorgeous, variegated yarn that is kettle-dyed in Uruguay in small batches.  Available in subtle variegations to distinct color shifts which create a lovely mottled garment. 

ALTERNATE WORSTED YARN: Woolstok by Blue Sky Fibers (100% Fine Highland Peruvian Wool; 50g/123yds): 9 (10, 10, 11, 12, 13) Skeins.  We will substitute 150g skeins if available.  This heathered yarn has a great hand and is available in a huge array of colors.  PRE-ORDER now available in all colors. SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate - Long-tail and backwards-loop cast-on, tacking down live stitches on collar
