This cowl is the perfect all-the-time accessory. And it's the answer for all of those knitters out there who love to knit shawls, but have a hard time styling them. This is a fun and engaging knit with shifting colors, that looks like an asymmetrical triangle shawl, and it only takes a fiddle-free second to throw it on as the finish to every outfit!

 Sport Weight

DESIGNER RECOMMENDED YARN: Dyed in the Wool by Spincycle Yarns  (100 % Wool; 50g/200 yds): 3 Skeins, 1 in each color.  Shown in Leith, The Meadows, & The Castle.  This marled gradient yarn is available in small batches only, so we have found some great substitutes to get your needles moving.

ALTERNATE YARN: Zauberball Crazy Cotton by Schoppel Wolle  (100% Organic Cotton; 100g/229 yds): 3 Skeins, 1 of each color.  Zauberball Crazy Cotton includes the gorgeous marled gradients of Spincycle, but in a non-allergenic yarn.  Please note that this yarn does not have the stretch of wool, so please swatch before you begin The Shift.

ALTERNATE YARN: Arroyo by Malabrigo (100% Superwash Merino Wool; 100g/335yds): 3 Skeins, 1 of each color.  Use Arroyo if you would like a bit of color variegation from the kettle-dyed, Uruguayan, superwash yarn.  The colors are spectacular and will astound even the tried and true knitter.  Use highly variegated colors to more closely match the moving colors in Spincycle Yarns. To see a beautiful Malabrigo example, click here.

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS: 26" Circumference x 22.5" Centerline x 10" back neck depth
YARDAGE: 200 yds of each color totaling 600 yds
SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate-I-cord, Shaping, Mosaic Knitting, Mattress Stitch, Slipped Stitches

NEEDLES: Size US 5 / 3.75mm 24" circular needle, or size needed to obtain gauge
OTHER TOOLS: Tapestry Needle, Scissors & Row Counter (Recommended)
GAUGE: 25 sts x 37 rows = 4" in Stockinette Stitch
