Man, Woman, or Child...these socks are for us all!  These innovative low-cut socks expose a deeper, curved portion of the top of the foot and the ankle. This is why they look much more flattering on all sizes of ankles, since they do not visually cut the foot off horizontally, like most other hand-knit short socks. Because of the lower “décolleté” at the top section, they also have the advantage of being completely hidden when worn in shoes - making them the perfect secret ally in winter, keeping toes and feet still toasty warm without compromising style or the ubiquitous “no-sock” trend.

In this pattern a toe up construction with a gusseted heel is used: This method provides a good fit and the ability to check the length of the sock quickly and easily during knitting. It also presents the advantage of using up different bits of yarn; just weigh them first and half the amount to use in each sock!

Depending on if and how you intend to use 2 or more colors the amount for each color might be different.   As a reference: Half of the total yarn amount was needed for both MC and CC in the pictured bi-colored models with MC heel.Different photo-tutorials are included, which explain some new way to work symmetric decreases at the heel.

Kit includes pattern and selected yarn. For yarn winding services, click here.  Yarn Loop has selected some of the very best sock yarns for your knitting pleasure.

 Lt. Fingering/Sock Weight

DESIGNER RECOMMENDED YARN: any sock yarn that meets gauge listed below 1 Skein of 50g, 230 yds

ALTERNATE YARN: Zauberball 100 by Schoppel Wolle (100% Superwash Merino Wool; 100g/437 yds): 1 skein.  This beautiful, self-striping yarn alleviates the need to add color changes.  For matching socks, you will need to find the section where the second sock should start.  1 skein will make 2-3 pair of socks.  Please note that this is a single ply yarn.  (If you love the Zauberball colors but want a more durable yarn, contact us for Zauberball or Zauberball Crazy which both have nylon.)

ALTERNATE YARN: Sock by Malabrigo  (100% Superwash Merino Wool; 25g/110 yds MINI): 1 mini skein Color A, 1 mini skein Color B. 2 minis will make 1 pair of socks

ALTERNATE YARN: Signature 4-Ply by West Yorkshire Spinners (75% British Wool / 25% Nylon; 100g/437yds): 1 skein in multis striped yarn. 1 skein will make 2-3 pair of socks.
