Rams and Yowes by Kate Davies

Kate Davies Design

This lap blanket features a handsome flock of 48 rams and 120 yowes (ewes). It is worked in all 9 natural shades of fingering weight wool yarn and celebrates the marvelous, many-hued variety of Shetland sheep.

Construction notes
This blanket is knit as a simple, steeked colorwork tube. When the body of the blanket is complete, the steek is cut, and stitches are picked up for the garter stitch edging. Increases and decreases create mitred corners, which fold to the back of the work, creating a neat facing inside which the steek is completely hidden. The blanket edge is then finished with an icord, for a professional-looking finish.

Kit includes pattern and selected yarn in quantites as outlined below.

A Note from Yarn Loop-Because Jamieson & Smith is not distributed in the USA, we have done extensive research on this pattern and the yarn substitution needed.  We are confident that the Brown Sheep NatureSpun Fingering will give you wonderful results with this beautiful blanket.  However, if you would like to receive the original yarn, please contact us for pricing and shipping lead times.  Please remember that this yarn will be shipped from the UK and may take an extra week to 10 days in transit.  Because shipping is quite high, please visit the Rams & Yowes Ravelry page to see if anyone else in your area would like to purchase at the same time (which reduces shipping for both of you!).
