The designer of Volga was born and raised in the south eastern European part of Russia, and she spent summers on the banks of Volga river at a family cabin. Volga’s might and beauty remain unchanged, and this design is dedicated to the river of her childhood and happy memories of this special place of the world.
Volga is a tubular shawl/cowl hybrid, there is no cast on or bind off and no long rows. Simple increases, decreases and basic lace shape this fluid piece. Similarly to the river it’s named after, this is a large shawl. Gauge is not crucial but will affect the finished size. Whatever needle size you use, make sure you get a good drape but not a floppy fabric.
