Carbeth by Kate Davies

Carbeth is a wide, cropped sweater with simple lines and a deep roll neck. Swift and straightforward to knit, this is a great sweater for beginners.  This sweater is intended to be wide, cropped, and to hang slightly bell-like from the shoulders. Length can easily be added to the sweater to make it less cropped (please add extra yarn when purchasing this kit).

Pattern notes - The sweater is knitted from the bottom up, and begins with an inch of rib, after which it is worked straight to the underarms (length can be added here to make the sweater less cropped, if required). Two sleeves are worked, then body and sleeves are joined together to be worked in the round. The yoke is shaped by decreasing stitches at an even rate from the body only, and, when the correct depth is reached, the stitch count is reduced further for the neck. A deep ribbed roll neck is then worked to complete the sweater.

DESIGNER RECOMMENDED YARN: Buachaille by Kate Davies Designs (100% Scottish Wool; 50g/120yds): 9 (10/11, 12, 13, 14) Skeins. Shown in colorway Islay.  Yarn held double throughout.  This is a hard wearing, long lasting blend of wool local to the designer.  

ALTERNATE YARN: Prairie Spun DK by Brown Sheep Co. (100% USA Wool; 100g/256yds): 4 (5, 6, 6, 7) Skeins. Use color Polished Jade to match sample shown. Yarn held double throughout.  This 100% American yarn is similar to its Scottish counterpart.  While not the softest yarn ever made, all Brown Sheep yarn has a hardiness and a wonderful hand that does not dissapoint.  PRE-ORDER now available in all colors.
