This pattern was inspired by the Japanese concept of Ikigai which represents a person’s reason for being. Roughly translated, ikigai is “the happiness of always being busy.”   So shrug off all of the stressors of the day and immerse yourself in the business of knitting. Stitch by stitch, allow yourself to relax into creating this simple cowl, which is designed to soothe the soul, slow the racing mind and provide both a source of intention and a place to direct the focus, if only for a brief respite.

This knit looks great in solids and highly variegated colors and is fully reversible, too!

Ikigai is built on the yarn Caprino, a perfect combination of luxury cashmere and super fine merino wool, bring incredible softness to your cowl.

Be sure to get enough yarn to complete your project since each skein may vary from the next. To ensure random color distribution, work from two balls of yarn at once, alternating a few rows from each ball.

Kit includes PDF & printed pattern and selected yarn.  For Ball Winding services click here.
